In windows xp as soon as we install new programs, will appear hightlight newly installed programs. To disable it follow the following steps:
1. Right-click Start> Properties
2. At the start menu, select customize
3. Click the tabs advanced
4. Remove the checklist on the "Hightlight newly installed programs"
5. Click OK
